Welcome to UrbanAlternatives
This is UrbanAlternatives;
An online community for young alternatives
who want to make things happen!
The purposes of this website are:

~To show the strengths and positives of
alternative subcultures and answer some of the
bad press we get. To change the misconceptions.

~To organise and promote events and activities.
These are your subcultures: get involved.
Whether it's music, fashion, art, poetry,
writing, reviews, organising events,
changing the world or just hooking up.

~And it's not all talk
UrbanAlternatives is also an organisation
with funding from Vinvolved to work with 16 to 25 year olds
in Manchester and Birmingham right now! check the forums.
We are doing our best to find the money, premises and people
for work in other cities too. Please get in touch if you are interested.

~UrbanAlternatives volunteers get support from trained staff,
whether they are doing their own project or helping out on one of ours.
Volunteers get certificates from V, the national youth volunteering agency.
We can also provide OCN accredited training to prove what you have learned
for your project or just through your volunteering.

So come join UrbanAlternatives,
and make a difference.

Cosplayers: The customisation clinic
Posted: Fallen Angel @ Sat Nov 15, 2008 17:39
We've had a really great day today!
Thank you to all the cosplayers that came in!
You know who you are =]

Special Happy Birthdays to Taicat and MikeJenks!
Hope you've had a good day.

Myself, Joel, Taicat, Sarah and Abbi went to Abakhans fabrics and bought some matirals.
Meanwhile, Rory had a chat about putting on a cosplay event.
Seems it's very popular.

I didn't get any sushi! It was all eaten!
=[
The cookies went quickly too!

It's on again next saturday guys!
If you want any materials, just say in this thread.
Would also like to know what you thought!

Magazine/leaflet
Posted: Joe!! @ Mon Oct 27, 2008 15:19
In Birmingham we have been discussing about doing a magazine/leaflet specifically for people who socialise round pigeon park. We haven't talked about it much as of yet, but its an idea which has been brought up several times.

Would you want to help design, make, write a magazine? Ideas to put in it could be:
What you want to change round pigeon?
Local event reviews?
What you want to improve?
New event ideas?
Fashion?

Its up to YOU!!

Any ideas......

the halloween party...
Posted: lardner @ Wed Oct 22, 2008 08:46
ok so birmingham have got the halloween party and we are all set to do this thing.
As you may/may not be aware we would like a mix of bands and a DJ so go to the birmingham forum, click on the 'we still need bands thread' and let us know what you can do to help.
Either you can be promoting a friends band, your own, a DJ or maybe you are a DJ.
Either way go onto the thread, let me know and we'll see what we can do...
Maybe this is the first you have hear about the party?
Still go onto the birmingham forum and you can find out about the party and all of
what else is going on!!
